Singapore Employment Pass

 The Singapore Employment Pass (EP) is a work visa designed for managers, executives, specialists, and skilled professionals seeking employment in Singapore. Additionally, entrepreneurs who have incorporated a company in Singapore can apply for an EP, allowing them to relocate and oversee company operations. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) imposes no official quota for the EP.

For those seeking Singapore company incorporation and relocation, the process involves two key tasks:

  1. Incorporate a Singapore Company:
    • Engage in the company incorporation process.

            2.   Obtain a Work Pass Visa:

  • Two main options are available for a work pass:
    • Employment Pass (EP):
      • Suitable for foreign entrepreneurs, professionals, managing directors, or shareholders with acceptable qualifications and skills.
      • Work experience may also contribute to eligibility.
      • EPs are preferred for setting up a company and residing in Singapore for a minimum of 12 months.
      • Validity periods: 1 or 2 years, renewable as long as the pass holder remains employed.
      • First-time applicants can have a validity period of up to two years.
    • Short-Term Pass:
      • Useful for short-term stays ranging from 2 weeks to 6 months.
  • For corporations, Employment Passes are required for staff such as managing directors and management personnel.
  • Employment Pass holders experience smoother travel in and out of Singapore.
  • EP holders working for more than 2 years can apply for Permanent Residence (PR) in Singapore.


 

       Singapore Company Setup Requirements:

  • Shareholders:
    • Minimum of one shareholder required.
  • Directors:
    • At least one resident director is mandatory.
  • Company Secretary:
    • Appointment of one company secretary is essential.
  • Paid-up Capital:
    • Minimum paid-up capital of S$1 is required.
  • Registered Office:
    • A local registered office address is necessary.


  Employment Pass Eligibility Requirements: 


The eligibility for an Employment Pass, as determined by the Ministry of Manpower, is contingent on the following factors. To qualify for an Employment Pass, you must demonstrate a fixed monthly salary of at least S$3,300 and possess one or more of the following:

  • Acceptable educational qualifications, such as a diploma or degree.
  • Professional qualifications.
  • Specialist skills.
  • Relevant work experience.


 

Submission of Employment Pass Applications:

Employment Pass applications are to be submitted to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and can be done either online or through manual submission.

For online applications, it is necessary to upload the required supporting documents. The online application process expedites the review, with approximately 80% of submissions processed within 7 working days.


 

Jobs Bank Requirement:

As of August 2014, the Ministry of Manpower mandates companies seeking to hire Employment Pass Holders to advertise the respective positions on the Singapore Workforce Development Agency’s Jobs Bank. However, certain exemptions are applicable.

Exemptions Include:

  • Jobs within firms with fewer than 25 employees
  • Positions offering a monthly salary exceeding $12,000
  • Intra-corporate transferees (individuals in senior positions or possessing advanced expertise)
  • Short-term positions (duration less than 1 month)


 

Documents Required:

To facilitate the Employment Pass application process, T RAVI PRACTICE PAC requires the following documents:

  • Copies of educational certificates and previous employment testimonials
  • Copy of the personal particulars page of your passport
  • Any non-English documents must be translated by an official translation service.

In case of an Employment Pass application rejection, our firm will conduct an investigation into the reasons provided by MOM. Subsequently, we will formulate a robust appeal, addressing raised concerns and providing requested documents if necessary.
